摘要
This work describes the structural strength analysis of selected drills used for mechanical root canal preparation. The assumptions made in the biomechanical analyses included both the technique of performing the surgery and various shapes of root canal. The calculations were using two alternative types of metal materials used to manufacture surgical instruments-X39Cr13 martensitic steel and Ni-Ti alloy with super-elastic properties. The results of the analyses indicate that using Ni-Ti alloy in the production of endodontic drills assures safety during root canal treatment processes. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
