The method of the significance determination process (SDP) and its implementation used by Nuclear Regulatory Commission of America were introduced in this paper. And the At-Power SDP method was developed based on this method. An operating event of broken shaft of RCV pump for nuclear power plant (NPP) was analyzed by using the At-Power SDP method. It proves that SDP method is of significance for enhancing the nuclear safety regulatory efficiency and the safety management of NPPs. © 2015, Editorial Board of Atomic Energy Science and Technology.
