Flap/lead-lag nonlinear aeroelastic stability of a wind turbine blade system during dynamic stall

Here, stability of a wind turbine blade nonlinear aeroelastic system during dynamic stall was investigated. The structural model consisted of a typing blade section subjected to flap/lead-lag motion. The aerodynamic loads during dynamic stall were computed using a semi-empirical and nonlinear Onera model. To avoid errors introduced by linearization assumptions, the non-linear time domain integrals were conducted for simulations to evaluate nonlinear aeroelastic behavior of this system. A parametric study on the flutter behavior of the system was performed. The effects of the structural damping parameter not studied in most previous analyses were given.
