This project links Russia and Georgia through an economical and touristic area. It includes 3 mined tunnels; two with NATM method and one with a TBM which length will be around 9 km. This project Includes also 6 viaducts, one of them with a 400 m arch bridge and another viaduct of 14 spans. The main characteristics of the project are: • Influence ofgeotechnics on alignment design in a mountainous area, with seismic and recent volcanos. • Influence of geotechnics; constrains for field investigations and planning for the whole project on the final alignment and solutions selected for emergency evacuation and tunnel ventilation. • Solution adopted for tunnel ventilation and its influence and matching in tunnel cross section. © 2020 Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos Canales y Puertos.
