The paper presents systematic design and development of pico-satellites focusing on CubeSats. Subsystems of these CubeSats are illustrated through several typical missions that have either been flown or are nearly ready for launch. Furthermore, the authors' recent projects including 'RyCanSat', 'RyPicosat' and 'RyF3ex' are discussed in detail. Finally, future missions involving femto-satellites are presented as a next generation of miniature satellites. © 2008, Inderscience Publishers.
