According to the requires to divide grey classes clearly and determine the clustering weights reasonably of water environmental quality assessment, the grey clustering method was improved by using the most difference method to process data normalization and the reciprocal of threshold method to determine the clustering rights. Combining with the measured water quality monitoring data of the middle channel in Lhasa, the assessment results of the improved grey clustering method, the conventional grey clustering method and the most unfavorable principles method of the current water environment quality evaluation were compared. The result showed that the improved grey clustering method was more according with the actual situation of water environment quality category, also more objective in evaluation of water environment quality.
