摘要
In this paper support vector machines (SVM) is employed as an aid to select convenience store location. Location plays a very important role for convenience store operators because the decision of a location has a great influence on the success of a convenience store. To predict whether a location is suitable to open a store or not, the input data related to influencing factors for convenience stores are first collected by a site visit method, which employs a geographic information system (GIS) to randomly select sites. Then SVM is used to train, test, and predict new locations. Results based on real data show that SVM can predict the convenience store location accurately. In addition, the walking distance that people are willing to go to a convenience store by walk is measured.
