摘要
Stringent emission norms along with the drastic change in climate lead the direction of research in enhancing the engine combustion to decrease the consumption of fuel and also emissions. Blending fuel with additives leads to improve fuel activity, which helps to overcome these challenges. In present work, the combined effect water and aluminum oxide nanoparticles as a fuel blend was considered. The blended fuel tested on a single cylinder, four-stroke diesel engines. The (compression ignition) CI engine was tested for its performance, emission and combustion characteristics. The results showed that B10W8N100 showed better brake thermal efficiency than B10W8 and B10, i.e., 7.6% and 10.72% increase, respectively. Carbon monoxide (CO) was decreased by 13.5% and 24.4% compared to B10W8 and B10, respectively. The catalytic effect of Al2O3 nanoparticles leads to improved combustion. The addition of nanoparticles in the fuel decreased the Nitric oxide (NO) emissions. It was less compared to conventional fuel by 50%. © 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
