The article presents a comment on metamodeling method using dynamic kriging for design optimization. An optimal mean structure is obtained using the basis functions that are selected by a genetic algorithm from the candidate basis functions; and a generalized pattern search algorithm is used to find an accurate optimum for the correlation parameter. Unfortunately; in the optimization problem to select the optimal basis functions; the kriging process variance was set to the objective function; resulting in selecting the full set of all candidate basis functions rather than optimal ones. Consequently; the kriging process variance cannot be as the objective function in the optimization problem to select the basis functions using a genetic algorithm because all of the possible candidate basis functions would be thought of as the optimal ones;
