摘要
We have developed a new high-thermal-conductivity insulating resin structure that improves corona discharge resistance without increasing the total thickness. Corona discharge is prevented by inserting the conductor into the resin insulation layer which divides the voltage. Using the two-layer model of insulating layer and air layer based on Paschen’s law, the relationship between the minimum value of the insulating layer thickness and the corona discharge inception voltage under the use environment was clarified. In addition, we have developed a crimping process for insulating resin sheets with conductors inserted. As a result, the thickness of the insulating resin layer for a 1,200 V power module (rated voltage) could be made equal to that of a 700 V power module. © The Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging.
