By integrating FCC(Filter Commutated Converter) into MIDC(Multi-Infeed HVDC) transmission system and based on CIGRE benchmark HVDC model, the extinction angle calculation model is deduced for the hybrid MIDC transmission system composed of FCC and LCC (Line Commutated Converter). By case study, the interaction among inverters during commutation failure is analyzed for different electrical distances and strengths of AC power system and compared between traditional and hybrid MIDC transmission systems. Based on PSCAD/EMTDC, the models of traditional and hybrid MIDC transmission systems are built and the simulative study indicates that, compared with traditional MIDC transmission system, FCC broadens the extinction angle margin, enhances effectively the anti-disturbance capability of commutation process, weakens the interaction among inverters and decreases the possibility of continuous commutation failure.
