ARQ based asymmetric network coding algorithm for wireless multimedia broadcast retransmission

Existing network coding broadcast retransmission algorithms perform poorly when packets length is variable. Lots of retransmissions are needed and the coding efficiency is low. What's more, existing network coding broadcast retransmission algorithms neglect the loss of receiving nodes' feedback. This paper puts forward ARQ based asymmetric network coding algorithm for wireless multimedia broadcast retransmission, ANCMBR. ANCMBR accurately predicts the packets reception, and adaptively encodes the lost packets under the limitation that encoded packets could de decoded. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that ANCMBR could effectively improve network performance compared with current symmetric network coding algorithms. ©, 2015, Journal of Computational Information Systems.
