摘要
A group of master's degree student engineers at the University of Exeter, UK, are developing a chocolate additive layer manufacturing (ALM) system, called ChocALM. The ALM system is to be used to create customized three-dimensional (3-D) structures and complex geometry from chocolate. The objective of the project is to design and build a desktop ALM system and develop it as a chocolate maker, which is different from traditional chocolate manufacturing. This objective is to be achieved by offering the opportunity to design and manufacture innovatively shaped and personalized chocolates. The project is supported by leading confectionary company, Cadbury Schweppes and electronic component distributors Hepco Motion and Farnell. ChocALM has been set up to encourage engineering students to develop new technology and a system for the production of creative, personal, and quality chocolate products.
