An empirical study of the impact of knowledge management orientation on organizational performance

Many studies show that knowledge management orientation has positive effect on organizational performance through organizational innovation. But there is still lack in the thorough research. This paper tests the effects of the four dimensions of knowledge management orientation on the two dimensions of organizational innovation respectively and the effects of the two dimensions of organizational innovation on organizational performance. 280 organizations in china were selected as the sample base for an empirical test. The results show that organizational memory has no significant effect on administrative innovation. Knowledge sharing, knowledge absorption and knowledge receptivity has significant effect on administrative innovation and technical innovation. Administrative innovation and technical innovation has significant effect on organizational performance. The implications of the research findings, limitations of this study, and suggestions for future research were also discussed.
