Vehicle recognition using information of shadows underneath vehicles and template matching with genetic algorithm

摘要
A vehicle recognition method for the traffic images taken from roadside is proposed. This method detects vehicles by using information of the shadows underneath the vehicles. A template matching with genetic algorithm is used when the judgment for vehicle existence by the shadows cannot be done because of overlapping of vehicles. Experimental results show that the recognition accuracy is 94.9%.
