In 2005, US soda ash production increased, reaching 11 million Mt. Five companies comprised the domestic soda ash industry. Four were in Wyoming and one was in California. For the year, soda ash exports were 4.63 Mt. The US remained the largest export of soda ash followed by China. For 2006, the global market is forecast to remain tight.
