This paper presents the development of a thermo-chemical dressing technique for generating defined dressed, coarse-grained diamond grinding wheels. These grinding wheels will be applied for ductile grinding of optical glass BK7 and Zerodur. Here, the influence of the dressing parameters was important for the investigations as well as the effect of process parameters on the material removal mechanisms and the resulting surface roughness of the precision ground work - pieces. © Springer-VDI-Verlag GmbH & Co.
