Struts is a ripe J2EE frame in the web application at present. The structure of Struts and the concept of knowledge-based engineering (KBE) system were introduced briefly. On the basis of analyzing and summarizing the limitation of the past product design, the thought of the KBE system based-on Struts was proposed, which uses Struts for the systemic frame integrating relevant application software, and introduces the thought of KBE into the design process of products. The developed KBE system, which took the oil-gas as an instance, proved itself to be feasible and high efficient to developing products.
