摘要
Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (NPs) using D. carota extract was investigated for various concentrations of D. carota extract. The aqueous silver ions were reduced into silver NPs when they interacted with D. carota extract. The silver NPs were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. XRD measurements show that the average size of silver NPs was 20 nm. UV-visible spectra show that the surface plasmon resonance peak of silver is observed at 415 nm. FTIR measurements indicate the presence in D. carota extract of ascorbic acid which is responsible for reducing and capping bioreduced silver NPs. TEM measurement shows that most silver NPs are spherical in shape. © 2012 Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology.
