The influence of various factors on the accumulation of 137Cs by Leuciscus cephalus (L.) occurring in the cooling pond of the Chernobyl NPS, in the Pripyat River, and in the Kanev Reservoir was studied in 1987-2007. It has been found that the temperature of water and the age of specimens are the main factors influencing the content of 137Cs in L. cephalus in water bodies similar in the degree of their radioactive contamination. © 2010 Begell House, Inc.
