Performance optimization of rock Asphalt/Dioctyl maleate composite modified asphalt binder: Balancing high-temperature stability and low-temperature toughness

摘要
A novel asphalt binder that combines enhanced stability and toughness was developed. Its rheological performance was analyzed across a range of temperatures, with the mechanism of action investigated through thermal characteristics and functional group analysis. The asphalt binder has excellent stability with a PG76-22. The addition of rock asphalt (RA) enhances the asphalt binder' s stability and significantly extends its fatigue life. In contrast, the incorporation of dioctyl maleate (DOM) improves toughness and resistance to cracking but reduces the asphalt binder' s fatigue life. To achieve a balance between stability and toughness, a DOM content of 2% is recommended as the optimal dosage.
