Controlled synthesis and characterization of core-shell fluoro-silicone-containing fabric agent

The core-shell particles containing fluorine-silicon polymer was prepared by activators regenerated by electron transfer atom transfer radical polymerization(ARGET -ATRP) using SiO2-Br as initiator. The obtained polymer with well-controlled molecular weight and low polydispersity was used as water and oil repellent fabric finishing agent. Kinetics of the polymerization showed the polymerization was a living/controlled system. Characterization of FT-IR, 1H NMR, 19F NMR, XPS, TEM confirmed the core-shell structure of the polymer and the presence of F element. The formation of dual micro-nano structure between nano polymer and the surface of fabric enhanced the water and oil repellency of the cotton fabric.
