Carbon dioxide emissions from energy consumption and projections in Shaanxi province based on the Kaya model

Using the calculation methodology based on energy consumption, the amount of carbon emissions due to energy consumption in Shaanxi province were calculated from 2000 to 2010. Using the Kaya model, the driving factors were analyzed. The carbon emissions increased year by year, but carbon emission intensity decreased continuously, from 0.92 t/10000 Yuan in 2000 falling to 0.58 t/10000 Yuan. By analyzing the driving factors, the rate of growth of the carbon emission of Shaanxi province was contributed by population (1.95%), economic (134.19%), energy intensity (-36.82%) and unit energy carbon intensity (0.67%). The decreasing trends in carbon emission were analyzed in terms of energy structure, economic growth and industry structure. © Sila Science. All Rights Reserved.
