Legislations and regulations, together with associated guidance from insurers can assist with the design and management of school buildings in the UK. Legislations, regulations, and the insurers can suggest design teams, the key requirements that are necessary to achieve statutory compliance. Several insurers are able to offer significant suggestions to the design process and are keen to work alongside the design team. The effort helps in the design process and saves additional unplanned and unexpected costs within the project. Project delivery and robustness is also achieved to obtain the desired level of insurance cover at any acceptable price. Zurich Insurance has produced a significant design guide to help in the process of design and management of school buildings. The document has been prepared to assist those involved in designing new school buildings and is helpful in repair and extension projects.
