摘要
Effects of the initial liquid height and the liquid viscosity on the total gas holdup in a bubble column were investigated under high superficial gas velocities of 0.20 and 0.30 m/s. The column diameter was 200 mm. The initial liquid height ranged from 400 to 3800 mm. The liquid phase was glycerol– water solutions of 4.4 and 12.3 mPa·s in viscosity. The total gas holdup in the bubble column decreases with increasing the initial liquid height and asymptotically approaches a constant value for each liquid viscosity. The total gas holdup decreases with increasing the liquid viscosity, and its de-crease rate is independent of the initial liquid height and the superficial gas velocity in the present experimental range. A two-region model with a multiplier for the effect of the liquid viscosity agrees well with the total gas holdup data. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
