Some cost-effective ways to increase the productivity of an old alkyd and polyester resin manufacturing plant are recommended. Decreasing the batch time will result in higher production rates with the same equipment. Modifying the existing heating/cooling system helps provide better control of the heating/cooling rates and minimize potential fouling or degradation of the product. Adding computers and basic instruments such as mass flow meters. load cells, and temperature transmitters is relatively inexpensive solutions to decreased productivity.
