A novel low-damage vegetable gum-based fracturing fluid was developed to meet the demand of fracturing techniques for the low-permeability reservoirs in Daqing Oilfield. The experimental research and the application of the new low-damage fracturing fluid in the low-permeability reservoirs indicated that the new vegetable gum-based fracturing fluid compared with the widely applied hydroxypropyl guar gum-based fracturing fluid had some advantages including low concentration of polymer, less residues, low damage to reservoirs and fractures, much lower cost and remarkable increase of production. The remarkable difference between the new vegetable gum-based fracturing fluid and traditional hydroxypropyl guar gum-based fracturing fluid is resulted from the difference of molecular weight and chemical structure of polymer in fracturing fluid.
