Evaluation and optimization of meter placement to enhance distribution state estimation

To improve the accuracy of distribution three-phase state estimation for the smart distribution network, the Moore-Penrose generalized inverse matrix and the only minimal least squares solution of the weighted least squares problem are used to deduce the mathematical relationship between measurement error and state vector estimation error. An evaluation and optimization method of meter placement in distribution network is presented. The measurement sets are evaluated by evaluation algorithms, the evaluation results are sorted by the meter type and installation place, and the optimal meter placement scheme is selected. Case study shows that, with a few measuring devices installed, the state estimation accuracy can be increased more than 60%.
