Disaster loss assessment and characteristic of seismic hazard of badong M5.1 earthquake in China

An earthquake with the magnitude 5.1 occurred in Badong city, Hubei province on December 16, 2013. It affects Badong city, Zigui city, Xingshan city and the surrounding areas. The intensity of the epicentral area reaches VII. After the earthquake, we carried out the field investigation and the assessment of seismic disaster. Based on the natural environment, social economy, population and building situation in the seismic area, we divided the disaster area into three evaluation area and completed the sampling survey of 71 points. According to the standard rules and methods in the earthquake field, a relatively scientific and practical assessment of economic loss is done. © 2015 ejge.
