This article tries to give the reader a clear view of the initiatives (in road safety) that are being taken in the regional government of Extremadura. While there are other pioneering administrations in this field, we have taken up the torch and, today, we are engaged in developing an ambitious program of road safety. The main measures are proving highly effective in relation to the decrease of the accident rate. In order to assess the validity of the initiatives proposed, in February 2012, was created the Regional Observatory for Road Safety meeting forum where knowledge and experiences are shared and where an assessment and analysis of registered accident rates and as monitoring of road safety management developed through writing projects and implemented, ongoing or planned works. It Includes interventions of different experts and contributions to the improvement of security are provided from different approaches, such as relevant studies in scope or new initiatives, proposals, legislation updates, etc., some of which are directly promoted by the general director.
