During the last 38 years, customers of Dow Emulsion Polymers have been able to investigate the most advanced paper coating technology at the Dow pilot coater in Horgen, Switzerland. During this long time Dow has developed complete answers to complex coating problems. In cooperation with universities and research institutes the theory of coating physics was refined based on mathematical modeling, significance testing, high powered computing and simulation. The pilot coater proved to be a valuable tool in validating theoretical results in practice and running trials under real industrial conditions.
