摘要
The power plants are using variable frequency drives (VFD) to regular fan air-flow when the required air restrictions are above 20% or when wide ranges of airflow is required. VFDs provide cost effective and cheaper airflows in long-term energy costs, and determine equations and fan performance curves for most efficient airflow application options. VFDs provide ideal airflow regulation solutions by reducing airflows without the use of dampers and other mechanical controls, reducing the frequency of electric power to the motor, and slowing down the fan speed. The resonant impact testing of fans is done to examine a broad range of fan speeds when VFDs is used for fan airflow analysis. Various system alterations such as change in couplings, to shift resonant frequencies outside the fan's operating speed range, is done to avoid hitting the first critical speed of the fan.
