Multi-decrypters encryption is a typical application of public key cryptology. Recently, Chai et al. proposed an ID-based multi-decrypters encryption and declared their scheme was secure against chosen ciphertext attack. In this paper, we find that scheme cannot withstand the internal attack. That is, each decrypter participating into the encryption can forge a decryption share and deceive other participators for its special status, but any other participators cannot detect it. Then we analyze the reasons for that problem and propose an enhanced identity-based multi-decrypters encryption scheme in which the forged decryption share can be verified if a decrypter deceives others. Our enhancement makes Chai et al.'s scheme closer to practical environment. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l.
