This review article focuses on the self-assembly of amphiphilic molecules into discrete;
hollow cylindrical tubular architectures (organic nanotubes). Research on nanotube formation from dumbbell-shaped peptide lipids;

and wedge-shaped bolaamphiphilic glycolipids with carboxylic;
