摘要
A novel technique has been successfully developed to realize the sustain driving in high impedance state for the alternating current plasma display panel (AC PDP). Three distinctive states: the positive voltage state, the high impedance states and the negative state, in one sustain cycle can be identified for the voltage across the X and Y electrodes in a typical AC PDP. The high impedance state lies between the alternating positive and negative voltage states. In the technique, the current is interrupted during the polarity change of the applied voltage by using the high impedance state, and the wall charge loss in the interval of the adjacent gas discharges can be avoided. As a result, the stability of the sustain discharge in an AC DPD can be considerably improved. The experimental results show that the newly-developed significantly decreases the minimum sustain voltage, and increases the sustain voltage margin.
