Effect of heat treatment process on photoluminescence of anodic alumina template

Homogeneous and ordered nanoporous anodic alumina template (PAAT) was prepared by twice-anodic oxidation method. The phase transformation of the template at high temperatures was studied by XRD. The results show that amorphous phase of the PAAT is transformed to γ-Al2O3 at 800°C. The phase transformation of δ-Al2O3, θ-Al2O3 and α-Al2O3 finally occurs with increasing of temperature. The properties of photoluminescence (PL) were studied at different temperatures. The results show that is the intensity of photoluminescence of PAAT is changed after annealing treatment compared with that of untreated PAAT. However, the intensity of photoluminescence is intensified with increasing of annealing temperature below 500°C, and the intensity is weakened with further increasing of annealing temperature, higher than 500°C for the heat treated PAAT.
