Determination of 13 mycotoxins in corn by UPLC-MS/MS

A method using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was developed to simultaneously analyze 13 mycotoxins in corn, including deoxynivalenol and its acetyl derivatives, zearalenone, aflatoxins B1/B2/G1/G2, fumonisins B1/B2, ochratoxin A, T-2 and HT-2 toxins. This method was based on one single extraction using acetonitrile: water: acetic acid (80:19:1, V/V) solutions, followed water dilution, high speed centrifugation, filtration and UPLC-MS/MS detection. The results showed that limits of quantification for 13 mycotoxins ranged from 1 to 200 g/kg, the recovery at three concentration levels ranged from 80% to 114% with relative standard deviations of 0.9%~10.9%. The testing results of corn matrix reference materials are within the range of the assigned value±uncertainty. © 2015, Editorial Dept. of JCCOA. All right reserved.
