Metabolic syndrome is often defined as having any three or more of the following: a large waist circumference; high triglyceride levels; high blood pressure; low high density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol levels; and high blood glucose (sugar) levels. The World Health Organization has its own definition. Nonetheless, WHO together with medical experts agree that there are three components to preventing or reversing metabolic syndrome and these include losing weight, exercising, and making dietary changes.
