A review is given for progress in measuring nitrite by fluorescence spectrophotometry on the basis of the documentary of recent decade, which contains reaction system, linearity range, detection limit and the applied objects, etc. In various determination systems, the potassium bromate-organic dye system and the system based on nitrosation reaction are the main systems for determination of nitrite by fluorophotometry in the present time, and using the surface active agent to enhance determination sensitivity is the research content and one of directions. In order to cope with the complexity and the multiplicity of environmental samples, a reasonable combination of the fluorescence analysis with each kind of separation technology, through which nitrite is determined in a more accurate, more sensitivity and lower detection limit, is another research direction in the future.
