Dextran nanogels were synthesized by dextran cross-linked with epichlorohydrin in aqueous solution. FT-IR, TEM and SLS figures show the nanogels are monodisperse spheroidal particles cross-linked by ether-bonds. The diameter of the particles increases with the increase of the dextran mass concentration, which mean diameter is 119.5 nm, 354.0 nm, and 1526.8 nm respectively as the dextran concentration is 1.25 g/L, 4.50 g/L, and 10.0 g/L. Phase transfer behavior of dextran nanogels were studied by DSC, RI and UV-vis. It's showed the increase of temperature results in nanogels from shrinkage to swelling, meanwhile, the increase of pH value is responsible for decreasing of the nanogels hydrophilicity, which leads to the shrinking of the nanoparticles.
