Progress of simulation of fluid flow behavior in structured packed column by computational fluid dynamics

摘要
Application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate fluid flow behavior in structured packed column was reviewed. CFD models include single-phase flow model and two-phase flow model. Using single-phase flow models, axial and radial diffusions of gas-or liquid-phase and formation of dry pressure drop in gas phase can be simulated. The two-phase flow models can be used to describe fluid flow behavior and mass transfer process of gas-liquid two phase flow. The simulation results of the latter are much closer to actual process occurring in structured packed column than those of single-phase flow model. With further developments of fluid dynamics, computer technology and modern measurement techniques, CFD simulation will be more widely used in chemical process.
