Tensile properties of prestressed concrete piles

PHC400-A and PHC500-A prestressed concrete piles are tested by two methods: uplift static load in site tests and full scale laboratory tests, to study the failure modes, weak parts and structural strength of the piles, end plates, piers and weldings. By comparing the results of two test methods, it turns out that 2~3 m-long core concrete is needed to ensure the prestressed concrete piles to serve properly if piles have proper curing age, and a suitable loading method is achieved in uplift static load tests in Tianjin.
