摘要
A high number of old buildings are currently being demolished and also volumes of waste are produced every year. The aggregates obtained from construction and demolition waste (CDW) can be exploited as a renewable resource and an economical alternative to natural materials. In this study, the possibility of constructing roller-compacted concrete pavements (RCCPs) from the nonselected recycled CDWs was evaluated. For this purpose, the waste was acquired from the landfill site in Line 4 of the Hesar zone, located in Iran. In total, 12 samples and four combinations were used for the experimental production of the RCCP from the CDW. Geotechnical laboratory tests, including modulus of elasticity (MOE), compressive strength, skid resistance, flexural strength, and split tensile strength, were employed to characterize samples and combinations. The results of this study indicated that both the compressive strength and flexural strength of the concrete made from the recycled mixtures were 14% higher and 15% lower than those of the control mixture, respectively. The split tensile strength ratio and the ratio of flexural strength to compressive strength were also lower and higher than those of the control mixture, respectively. Comparing the different recycled mixes revealed that the RCCP-C-F50 mixture had higher compressive and flexural strength than the others, and thus it is recommended for use in future works. Moreover, test results revealed that recycled aggregates (RAs) can be used for producing RCCPs and could be of great help to engineering in terms of solving the problems facing CDW landfill sites, and this study can also play an important role in realizing sustainable development.
