摘要
Electrodeposition of decorative chromium has emerged as a significant process of imparting the physical and chemical properties of chromium to the surface of cost-effective and easier-to-form materials, such as steel and plastics. Decorative chromium is significantly plated over a nickel electrodeposit that can be easily plated over substrates, such as plastics, steel, aluminum, copper alloys, and zinc die castings. Nickel is preferred, as it protects the substrate from corrosion and gives chromium a white color, protecting it from surface oxidation. Multiple, or single layers of nickel and copper can precede the nickel and chromium deposits, depending on the intended use of the part.
