An adaptive method of fault locator for T transmission line

A fault location method for T transmission line is proposed based on fault analysis, which adapts to the variable operation mode and calculates simply. It uses the voltage, current, and line positive-sequence impedance parameters of three sides of T transmission line, calculates the voltage of T node of each side respectively, and distinguishes the fault branch by comparing the voltage amplitude of T node. It achieves the precise double-terminal fault location by using the electric quantity of T node and fault branch. The new method can be applied to different branch impedance parameter and adapt to the three or two terminal operation mode. Theoretical analysis and simulation experimentation show that this method is not affected by transition resistance and can realize the accurate fault location of weak feed line side.
