Cerium (III) sorption with diglycolamidic acid resin

Focusing on the research of enrichment and recovery of cerium by resin adsorption method. The effect of the factors such as pH value of medium, temperature, adsorption time, etc., on sorption was measured. Experimental results showed that diglycolamidic acid resin had a good adsorptivity for Ce3+ in the HAc-NaAc medium when pH=6.00. The statically saturated Ce3+ sorption capacity was 173 mg/g; the sorption rate constant was k298=1.00 × 10-4 s-1. The activation energy was ΔEa=10.9 kJ/mol. The Ce3+ adsorbed on diglycolamidic acid resin could be stripped quantitatively by using 0.1-2.0 mol/L HC1. The adsorption behavior of diglycolamidic acid resin for Ce3+ obeyed the Freundlich isotherm. The molar coordination ratio of the functional group of diglycolamidic acid resin to Ce3+ was 3:1. The adsorption mechanism of resin for Ce3+ was examined by chemical analysis and IR spectra.
