Slag is the most important by-product in iron and steel production and is used in several applications, e. g. in the construction industry, and substitutes by this means natural materials. It is state of the art to control the metallurgical process in order to produce high-quality slags. Due to newly designated standards it will be necessary in future to make sure the new quality standards are met by already employed processes or the processes need improvements, from metallurgy to processing.
