A modified anaerobic-anoxic-oxic process (A2/O) was used to treat synthetic domestic sewage. The removal efficiencies of organic matters, nitrogen, phosphorus and the influences of mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS), solids retention time (SRT), dissolved oxygen (DO), sludge loading rate (SLR), nitrate nitrogen to nitrogen and phosphorus removal were studied. The results showed that the average concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) in effluent were 26.00 mg/L, 0.27 mg/L, 5.24 mg/L and 0.96 mg/L respectively. The average removal efficiencies of COD, TN and TP in effluent were 93.7%, 84.1% and 93.2% respectively. MLSS was observed to have obvious influence on nitrogen and phosphorus removal. The appropriate values of SRT and DO were 10~12 d and 2.0~3.0 mg/L respectively. The critical SLR for anaerobic phosphorus release was 0.12 (gCOD)/(gMLSS). Nitrate had suppression effect on anaerobic phosphorous release. © Sila Science. All Rights Reserved.
