摘要
Residues left by de-icing fluids have prompted safety concerns in the airline operators in Europe. It is believed that thickened fluids used on aircrafts for ground de-icing and anti-icing operations can leave a residue, which forms as a result of the fluid not being entirely cleared from the aircraft during takeoff run and subsequent climb out, particularly from the aerodynamically quiet parts of the wing and tail. A number of incidences have been reported during the last two winter seasons in north Europe, leading to the issue being addressed as a matter of some urgency by the fluid manufacturers, legislators, aircraft manufacturers, and airlines.
