摘要
In the modern times, metal corrosion especially electrochemical corrosion is regarded as a significant problem. Developing durable and effective anticorrosive protective coatings with enhanced functionalities is critically important for successful metal corrosion prevention in the current scenario. This review paper focuses on protective coatings containing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), offering a comprehensive overview of their design, synthesis, performance, and underlying mechanisms in corrosion protection. MOFs, known for their tunable porosity and functional versatility, have emerged as promising candidates for anticorrosive applications. This paper summarizes recent advancements in anticorrosive MOF coatings, detailing the synthesis methods and fabrication techniques used to enhance their protective capabilities, while also highlighting their advantages and limitations. Additionally, it explores the anticorrosion performance metrics and inhibition mechanisms of these coatings. By addressing current challenges and proposing future research directions, this review aims to provide a thorough understanding of MOF-based protective coatings, paving the way for their practical implementation in industrial settings.
